Meghan Markle and Markus Anderson attended the opening ceremony of the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada.
Anderson is responsible for Markle and beau Prince Harry meeting and dating. According to the Daily Mail, Markle credited her “closest friend in the world” with introducing her to the prince in 2016. Markle and Anderson are so close that they actually vacationed in Spain last year, which resulted in a slew of Instagram snaps.
In 2016, she denoted Anderson’s birthday with a sweet Insta post as well. “Celebrating the birthday boy @anderson_markus 💥💥💥💥 What would I do without you, my loving, supportive, and endlessly fun friend?? I know what….I would be bored, and life would be infinitely less interesting. I love you SO much. Happiest of days for you now and always. Love you xx #HBD,” she wrote.
While Markle and Harry have been dating for over a year and have been on multiple trips abroad together since May, the 2017 Invictus Games are their first official joint appearance as a couple, as they held hands in the stands. Prince Harry established the Invictus Games in London in 2014 – it’s an “adaptive sport event for injured, ill and wounded servicemen and women and veterans.” Canada was chosen as the events location this year in honor of the country’s 150th anniversary.
