Megan Thee Stallion’s former bodyguard is missing after failing to appear in court to testify in rapper Tory Lanez’s trial.

“I can confirm that Justin Edison, Megan’s bodyguard, was set to testify in court, did not appear, and is now missing,” Alex Spiro, Megan’s attorney, told Insider. “Law enforcement is investigating the matter.”

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office has accused Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, of shooting Megan in the feet on July 12, 2020.

Peterson pleaded not guilty to assault and gun charges involved in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, including carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

An argument took place in the car when the group left a gathering at Kylie Jenner’s house, but the prosecutors and defense gave different versions of what occurred next.

There were two other individuals present during the incident, including Kelsey Harris, Megan’s former assistant, and Peterson’s driver, Jauquan Smith

Harris texted Edison from the car: “Help. Tory shot Meg. 911.”

According to Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott, Edison told prosecutors that Lanez admitted to being “too drunk” and shot at the ground the night of the incident.

Megan stated that she initially lied about the shooting because of her fear of the police, and she didn’t think anyone in the music industry would support her.

The trial is set to resume on December 19.

If convicted, Lanez may face up to 22 years in prison.
