Rapper Megan Thee Stallion claims she was shot in the foot while the Los Angeles Police Department says her injury was caused by shattered glass on Sunday night.
The incident happened before rapper Tory Lanez was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. Police came to the 1800 block of Nichols Canyon in Hollywood Hills, California at about 4:30 a.m. for a “shots fired investigation.”
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was released after being detained on a $35,000 bond.
A statement produced by the LAPD said that on person involved in the incident was taken to the hospital “with a foot injury.” Two sources further explained to the Los Angeles Times that the injuries Stallion was facing were consistent to those that would occur with glass.
However, on Wednesday, Stallion took to Instagram to explain that her injuries were not caused by glass, but by gunshot. She wrote, “the narrative that is being reported about Sunday’s morning events are inaccurate. On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.”
She went on to say, “I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets. I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night.”
She ended, “I’m currently focused on my recovery, so I can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible.”
