Rapper Megan Thee Stallion had an emotional moment on stage during the Tampa, Florida, concert of her Hot Girl Summer tour. Megan, 29, began to tear up on Saturday as she prepared to perform her song, “Cobra.” In the video, fans captured Megan wiping her eyes and taking deep breaths. Many attendees cheered for Megan, shouting encouraging words before she moved on to the next song.
During her performance of “Cobra,” emotions were still high. Megan covered her eyes as she fought back tears, doing her best to continue with the song. Still, Megan received support from her fans during and after the concert. Several users shared videos of the concert on social media with words of love for the Houston rapper.
Megan’s song “Cobra” talks about the rapper’s struggles with mental health and grief. The lyrics also point to feelings of loneliness, stating, “Breaking down and I had the whole world watching / But the worst part is really who watched me?”
The breakdown comes after an AI-generated sex tape of Megan was released. The video, made with deep-fake technology, depicts Megan engaging in sexual activities, completely fabricated. After the video had circulated on social media, Megan went to X to share her thoughts.
“It’s really sick how y’all go out of the way to hurt me when you see me winning,” Megan wrote. “Y’all going too far, fake a— s—. Just know today was your last day playing with me, and I mean it.”
The Houston rapper has been the face of several headlines, starting with the altercation with fellow rapper Tory Lanez, who shot her in the foot. In January, Megan released a diss track titled “Hiss” against rapper Nicki Minaj in which Megan called out her husband, Kenneth Petty, for being a registered sex offender.
Megan also faced controversy in April over a lawsuit from an ex-cameraman, who claimed Megan created a hostile work environment and verbally harassed him.
