Rapper Megan Thee Stallion will be touring the country in an odd new way, not for in-person shows but a Virtual Reality performance called “Enter Thee Hottieverse,” in collaboration with the platform AmazeVR. These stops begin in April and will visit 10 U.S. cities before wrapping up in July.
Instead of lining up outside a venue or filling a stadium, fans will be seated in local theaters kitted with VR headsets (or “Hottie Mounted Displays), where they’ll see Megan performing her iconic songs in a variety of virtual environments.
The rapper told Billboard, “Virtual Reality has always been an interest of mine. I’m glad that we’ll be able to make history with this experience.” She said she can’t wait for the chance to perform “in a completely different and unique way.”
Ernest Lee, the co-CEO of AmazeVR said the company is “thrilled to work with Megan to launch AmazeVR’s very first VR Concert Tour. She’s an artist who has incredible stage presence and can create iconic moments that will make the most of the VR technology we’re developing. If anyone could push the notion of how captivating a VR concert can be, it’s Megan.”
You can watch Megan’s short promo video for Amaze VR below, where she says the concerts will be “some real hot girl sh–t.”
According to info on the tour’s website, the stops for the tour are all composed of AMC movie theaters, and the fan’s journey through the “Hottieverse” will only last about 30 minutes from beginning to end.
