Fox, 29, arrived on the New Girl set this week to start shooting scenes for her multi-episode arc on the comedy series. Her character, named Reagan, is described as a “a gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up.”
Joining Fox on set Monday was New Girl star Jake Johnson.
Fox will be filling in for Zooey Deschanel, who is currently on maternity leave bonding with her three-month-old daughter Elsie Otter. Weighing in on Fox’s arc on New Girl, Deschanel shared her excitement and some spoilers.
“I’m super excited,” Deschanel told People at the Rock the Kasbah premiere. “Essentially, [my character Jess] gets on jury duty and has to be sequestered, so the roommates rent out her room for a few weeks.”
“[Megan is] going to be fantastic,” Deschanel added.
Fox’s role on New Girl will be her first major TV part in nearly a decade. She was last a series regular on drama Hope & Faith, which ran from 2004-2006.
As for Fox’s silver screen roles, she’s reprising the part of April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and will appear alongside James Franco and Seth Rogen in late 1960s comedy-drama Zeroville. Both films are slated to hit theaters in 2016.
New Girl season 5 will premiere on Fox in January.
