Megadeth, the Los Angeles, Calif., thrash metal band, has dropped its latest single – “The Threat Is Real.”
Earlier this week, Megadeth dropped a new song off its 15the studio album, Dystopia, which follows leading single “Fatal Illusion.” Like “Fatal Illusion,” “The Threat is Real” stays true to the theme of the the album’s title, delving into the idea of a dystopian world.
Talking about Dystopia as a whole, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine shared with Full Metal Jackie that it represents a sort of return to the band’s roots.
“I think that for the first time now, we’ve actually really embraced that part of us that made us a trashier band,” Mustaine said of the album. “A lot of it was how we were feeling and the way that we were looking at our lives at the time and just being – you know, instead of being disappointed – there’s a difference between having a bad situation and being depressed versus having a bad situation and being pissed and doing something about it.”
Dystopia is set to be released Jan. 22. It is currently available for pre-order on iTunes.
