Eclipse, a black Labrador, has become an instant star after a story about how she takes the bus in Seattle alone to get to the dog park went viral.

Black Lab Takes Bus To Dog Park

Eclipse, a friendly black lab, is a D Line regular and has been for some time. Her owner, Jeff Young, told KOMO 4 News that he used to take Eclipse on the bus to the dog park, and continues to do so, but sometimes she simply decides to go herself. According to Young, he used to smoke a cigarette outside his apartment while he and Eclipse waited for the bus, and if the bus came before he was done, Eclipse would just get on without him.

“She’s been urbanized, totally…. If we get separated, she gets on the bus without me, and I catch up with her at the dog park,” Young said.

Bus riders love Eclipse. Said commuter Tiona Rainwater, “All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does. She makes everybody happy.”

Young, who described Eclipse as “urbanized,” revealed that he regularly gets called from concerned citizens who see Eclipse around town on her own. “Probably once a week I get a phone call. ‘Hi. I have your dog Eclipse here on 3rd and Bell.’ I have to tell them, ‘No. She’s fine.’ She knows what she’s doing,” he said.

Also intrigued by Eclipse was radio host Miles Montgomery, who enjoyed a short bus ride with Eclipse one morning, and even tweeted out a selfie of the two of them.
