Andi Dorfman, who was the second runner-up in Juan Pablo Galavis’ season of The Bachelor, has been tapped by ABC producers to star in the upcoming season of The Bachelorette.
Dorfman, 26, was an early favorite with both Galavis and viewers on The Bachelor. The Atlanta-based assistant district attorney managed to stay out of much of the drama and appeared to be a bit more down to Earth than many of her competitors in the race for Galavis’ final rose.
To Galavis’ surprise, his time in the Fantasy Suite with Dorfman didn’t go too well. In fact, it allowed Dorfman to realize that this wasn’t the man for her. After letting Galavis know he can be rude, insensitive, seem completely uninterested and unavailable – and overuses “It’s okay” – she decided to leave the show of her own accord.
Though The Bachelor didn’t work out for Dorfman, she’s not giving up on finding love on realty TV. "I felt real feelings,” she told host Chris Harrison of her relationship with Galavis on the After the Final Rose special. “I think it can happen anywhere – especially on a show like this. I mean why not? Why not?"
"I'm looking to find that great love. I have a great life. I just don't have anyone to spend it with," Dorfman said in a pre-recorded video. "I love my job but at the end of the day my job is not my priority. I'm ready to find my husband."
"I feel all in. I feel mentally all in, emotionally all in, physically all in. I am in a place in my life where I'm just so ready for this,” she added. “I hate to say it because I don't want to jinx myself … but I am ready. I've never felt better in my life about this and I'm just excited."
Dorfman’s enthusiasm to become the next Bachelorette on Monday night was convincing to all but Chris Harrison, who’d struggled mightily to get Galavis to buy into the “journey” of the show. “You know this is going to be on TV right?” he asked Dorfman, adding, “Don’t be afraid to share your emotions. People are going to want to go on this journey with you. And if you fall in love, don’t be afraid to say that.”
Hopefully for both Harrison and Dorfman, the producers select a couple dozen worthy men for the next Bachelorette star to find her fiancé.
Season 10 of The Bachelorette premieres May 26 on ABC.
