Tina Fey‘s new musical production of 2004 classic Mean Girls will hit the stage at the National Theater in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 31 for a short stint.
The story is based on the original film, in which a homeschooled girl, Cady Stanton, goes to a public high school for the first time, and gets intertwined with the popular girls clique known as the Plastics. Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw will direct the piece, adapted by Fey herself, and scored by three-time Emmy winner Jeff RIchmond. Fey called on SNL producer Lorne Michaels to produce, his first foray into Broadway.
While the film starred Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams in the lead roles, there is no word yet as to who will play Cady and Regina George. The show will run from Oct. 31 through Dec. 3, and will serve as a tryout of sorts to see if the play would succeed on Broadway.
Despite Mean Girls the musical being the show we’ve all been waiting for, the showrunners are giving even more incentive to purchase tickets – a bundle with touring Hamilton tickets as well. That’s right, for $425, you could see both shows, which are playing in neighboring theaters in the capital city. To reserve tickets to both shows, call the subscription hotline at (855) 486-2516.
