In a social media post on Friday, television personality Mayim Bialik revealed that Sony Pictures Television, the production company behind the popular American game show Jeopardy!, had informed her she would no longer host the program.
Bialik expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the Jeopardy! family.
“For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz show, thank you,” she wrote.
An actress and neuroscientist, Bialik, 48, initially joined the show as a guest host in 2021. She later became a full-time co-host after the death of the beloved host Alex Trebek.
Fans expressed their appreciation for Bialik’s time on the show in messages of support that flooded online platforms.
Bialik’s absence from the show in recent months had sparked speculation about her future, which was finally confirmed through her announcement. Earlier this year, Bialik had declined to appear on the show in solidarity with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike and later the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Aside from her involvement with Jeopardy!, Bialik is well-known for her roles in television series such as The Big Bang Theory, Blossom and Call Me Kat. She has also hosted several prime-time Celebrity Jeopardy! specials on ABC. In her farewell statement, Bialik expressed her honor at being nominated for a Primetime Emmy for “Outstanding Host for a Game Show.”
The show itself released a statement on Instagram that confirmed Bialik’s departure and explained that they had decided to have one host for the syndicated version in the future season to maintain continuity. They announced that Ken Jennings would be the sole host onward. The statement expressed gratitude for Bialik’s contributions to Jeopardy! and expressed hope for future collaborations on prime-time specials.
Brown will be accompanied by guest artists Scotty McCreery, Mitchell Tenpenny, Ashley Cooke and Dasha.
