Mayim Bialik Dedicates Critics’ Choice Award To Late Father Barry Bialik
Mayim Bialik, who plays Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler in the popular CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, won the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role. In her acceptance speech, she stated that the award would be dedicated to her late father Barry Bialik who passed away last year.
Mayim Bialik Dedicates Award To Late Father
Bialik, who in the past has been nominated for two Critics’ Choice Awards, four Emmy nominations, five Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations and a People’s Choice Award nomination for her role, was in total shock when her name was called for the award. “The reason I look so surprised is I’ve never actually won anything!” said Bialik. “I literally didn’t prepare anything because I’ve never won anything — I didn’t think I’d be up here.”
After thanking her co-stars in The Big Bang Theory and the show’s writers and producers, she took a moment to dedicate the award to her late father, Barry Bialik. “My dad died 9 1/2 months ago and he was my harshest critic, and he never lived to see me win anything,” Bialik said. “So Abba (roughly translated as “father” in Hebrew), this is for you. Thank you.”
