The late Friends actor Matthew Perry was honored at the 2023 Emmy Awards during its In Memoriam on Monday night.
Singer Charlie Puth and duo The War and Treaty performed a rendition of Puth and Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” as photos of late television stars were shown, including Lance Reddick, Angela Lansbury, Stephen “Twitch” Boss and Norman Lear.
As the song came to a close, the singers transitioned into the Friends theme song, “I’ll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts. More stars flashed across the screen before Perry was honored at the end.
Perry died in October from “acute effects of ketamine.” The Los Angeles Police Department closed its investigation into the 54-year-old actor’s death earlier this month.
The cast and crew of Friends have honored Perry individually and together, with his five other costars releasing a joint statement after his passing.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew,” they wrote. “We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
