Glee just turned in their rendition of the classic Rocky Horror Picture Show, but at least two of their stars haven't had enough yet. Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele headlined a charity production of the musical as Brad and Janet last night in Los Angeles.
The performance was put together not only to celebrate Rocky Horror's 35th anniversary, but also to raise money for The Painted Turtle, a camp for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Morrison and Michele were joined on-stage by a plethora of stars, including Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Evan Rachel Wood, Julian McMahon, Jason Segel, Nicole Scherzinger, Ricki Lake and George Lopez.
When the iconic "Time Warp" rolled around, original cast members Tim Curry and Barry Bostwick jumped on stage to rapturous applause. Though the performance wasn't perfect, the audience didn't mind. “When you only have seven days to prepare and less days with the actors, you have to abandon the notion of perfection, let go, and let the Rocky gods take charge,” director Kenny Ortega told Entertainment Weekly. “Besides, the beauty of this show is that it’s freeing and fun and a little naughty. It’s about going in there and forgetting everyone and everything for 95 minutes and surrendering yourself to the camp.” –AMY LEE
