While appearing in a recent podcast, actor Matthew McConaughey revealed that has thought about running for Governor of Texas.
In the newest episode, released Wednesday, of The Balanced Vote podcast hosted by the Crime Stoppers of Houston, Rania Mankarious asked the Oscar winner if a run for the governor’s mansion could be the actor’s next leadership role. “It’s a true consideration,” McConaughey replied.
In November, McConaughey was asked about his political aspirations during an interview with radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt. “Look, politics seems to be a broken business to me right now,” the actor said at the time. “And when politics refines its purpose, I could be a hell of a lot more interested.”
After last month’s Texas snowstorm, the 51-year-old actor used his high-profile standing to help his fellow Texans after the disaster. He announced plans for a virtual fundraising concert on his Instagram through his Just Keep Livin’ Foundation. “We’ve got some of the biggest talents in music with soulful performances and real life stories from Texans that all speak to the heart of the Lone Star State. We’re Texas … More details coming soon,” he wrote.
Seibert speculated, “If struggle without context is baffling, heaven without struggle isn’t very interesting.”
