Matt Lauer’s Wife Annette Roque Has Reportedly Left The Country

Matt Lauer‘s wife, Annette Roque, has reportedly left her husband and left the country with the couple’s three children.

This comes after a wave of sexual harassment allegations are being brought against Lauer, and after he was fired by NBC last week. While only one official complaint had been filed against Lauer at the Today show, NBC cites they have reason to believe that this was not a one-time event. In fact, a former employee has now alleged that Lauer used a secret under-the-desk button to lock her inside his office and assault her in 2001.

Roque is originally from the Netherlands, and has reportedly traveled to her family’s home there with the kids. She has remained silent on the issue since it first cropped into the public eye last week. She and Lauer share three sons, Romy, 14, Thijs, 11, and an older son Jack who is currently attending private school outside of Manhattan.

Their marriage has not been without scandal in the past. Roque filed for divorce in 2006, claiming she suffered “cruel and inhumane” treatment from her husband. In court documents, she says Lauer was controlling and showed “extreme anger and hostility” toward her. She withdrew the divorce filing a month later.

According to PageSix, a source says that Roque only withdrew the proceedings because Lauer offered her a post-nuptial agreement worth up to $5 million if she agreed to stay in the marriage. “Matt needed to stay in the marriage to keep his reputation as America’s nicest dad. He is in fact a great, and very doting dad to his kids, but he is also a terrible husband,” the source said at the time.
