Matt Damon was spotted filming the upcoming Jason Bourne sequel in Berlin, Germany Wednesday.

Matt Damon Films ‘Bourne’

Damon was on set with German action star Vinzenz Kiefer in the Kreuzberg area of Berlin, which was doubling as the Prenzlauer Berg borough of the city for the day on set. Damon was pictured hopping out of a taxi, while Kiefer – who is working as a stunt double on the movie – snuck around a square with his hood up.

Details are slim about the fifth installment in the Bourne franchise, though Damon did reveal that it will have to fill in Bourne’s story over the last decade.

“[Bourne] has his memory back, but that doesn’t mean he knows everything. It’s 12 years since Jason Bourne has been on the grid,” Damon said. “So we have to answer the questions, Where’s he been? What’s he doing? What gets him going again? So once we solved all that, then we had a movie.”

Paul Greengrass will be returning to direct the movie, and is expected to set it firmly in a world post-Edward Snowden with the privacy concerns that exist within it. Cyber-security, national security and the meaning of a democracy will serve as central themes, according to reports.

Bourne 5, in addition to Damon, will star Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Riz Ahmen and Vincent Cassell.

Bourne 5 is slated for release July 15, 2016.
