Not since Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won Best Original Screenplay Oscars for their Good Will Hunting script in 1998 have they teamed up for a real collaboration — until now. Both Boston natives, Damon and Affleck have made plans to bring to the big screen the story of Whitey Bulger, the notorious New England gangster who was recently arrested after sixteen years of living at large, Deadline.com reports.
“Matt and I have been looking for something to do together for some time,” Affleck, who will direct the unnamed film, said. “We’ve heard about Whitey Bulger since we were kids, and we are excited by the prospect of putting it on screen." Damon will play Bulger in the film and will co-star and produce. Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter is writing the script.
The film will also co-star Casey Affleck, Ben's younger brother, who appeared in Good Will Hunting, as well.
