Last night’s episode of America’s Got Talent took a scary turn as a couple’s trapeze stunt went wrong and nearly fatal while on air.

A husband and wife turned trapeze team, Mary and Tyce, impressed the judges as they showed off their death-defying tricks while elevated off the stage. Their performance was filled with intense tricks and fire around the stage to match.

What makes their act even more insanely impressive is that Tyce is legally blind in his right eye because of a progressive eye disease.

During the finale of their performance, he blindfolds himself as he hangs upside down and prepares to catch his wife above him.

Mary then lets go of the pole for Tyce could catch her by her ankles, but she slipped through his grip and plummeted to the floor. The judges and audience screamed as she fell.

Mary’s mother and their 2-year-old son, Jaxx, were watching from the audience and they become visibly horrified. Her mother grabbed their son before covering her eyes.

However, Mary fortunately landed on a heavy safety mat, which made her fall painful but not fatal. After a few seconds on the group, Mary recovered and got up to reveal to the crowd she was not seriously injured.

When Tyce was brought down to the stage he immediately embraced her and kissed her.

The couple insisted that they try the trick again, however, the still shaken up judges ensured them that it was not necessary. “No, it’s fine!” Mel B yelled. “It’s fine.”

Guest judge for the night, Ken Jeong, told the couple, “This is not America’s Got Perfection, it’s America’s Got Talent, nobody can do this.”

“You almost got hurt very badly and your first thought was ‘Let me do that again!’ only on America’s Got Talent does that happen,” Howie Mandel said to the couple.

Luckily for them, the accident did not cause them a spot to move forward, as they will be going to the live rounds in Hollywood.
