Oscar-winning actress Mary Steenburgen is joining the cast of Orange is the New Black for the Netflix series’ third season.
Steenburgen, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1980 for playing Lynda Dummar in Melvin and Howard, broke her casting news on Twitter.
It’s unknown whom Steenburgen will play, though odds are the actress will be joining the Litchfield Prison population. It’s also unknown how many episodes Steenburgen will appear in during season 3 of Orange is the New Black, which already began production.
Steenburgen has recently had recurring guest-starring roles on 30 Rock, Wilfred and Justified. On the big screen, she’s known for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Step Brothers and The Help, among a number of other features.
Orange is the New Black, which received rave reviews for its second season that premiered on Netflix last weekend, is known for its large and charismatic ensemble cast. Taylor Schilling, Uzo Aduba,Laura Prepon, Jason Biggs, Danielle Brooks, Natasha Lyonne, Laverne Cox, Yael Stone, Samira Wiley, Kate Mulgrew, Dascha Polanco and Selenis Leyva are among the show’s stars.
