Mary J. Blige and Maxwell Tease Their King And Queen Of Hearts World Tour

Mary J. Blige and Maxwell will be doing a joint tour beginning on Nov. 5 in Baltimore.

MARY J. BLIGE AND MAXWELL TEASE THEIR UPCOMING TOUR

The title of their tour is The King and Queen of Hearts World Tour. “We say this with all humility, but we also say it with confidence,” Blige tells EW. “Because it’s what we earned. Blood, sweat, and tears.”

Maxwell released blackSUMMERS’night, his fifth studio album this year, and Blige’s last was 2014’s The London Sessions. She is preparing to release a new collection soon, but how soon is unknown. She has released 12 records since her debut in 1992.

Of their tour, Blige explains, “it’s traumatic, and it’s beautiful. Because my life, I actually have to live out what I’m singing.”

Maxwell agrees and says “it’s cathartic” to perform such personal songs in front of hundreds of people on stage. “It’s going to be a very beautiful chess game on stage, and the queen has all the moves. I feel like we’re going to be able to magnify each other and take people to where they need to be in an emotional way, especially in a time where we have so much political unrest. It’s kind of wild out there.”
