Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ Franchise Could Get A Live-Action TV Show

X-Men could be coming to TV, as Marvel is reportedly in talks with Fox for a live-action series based on the comics.

‘X-Men’ TV Show

Fox entertainment chairman Gary Newman teased the possibility of an X-Men series earlier this year, but now it’s looking more and more probable.

At the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills Thursday, Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden revealed that a deal was underway between the network and Marvel.

“[For] X-Men, we’re in negotiations with Marvel,” Walden told The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re hopeful we’ll be able to announce something soon. We’re not closed on a deal yet but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing.”

“The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature side so we won’t be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney,” Walden added. “This will be exclusively the franchise as it has existed at Fox.”

Marvel has notably had success adapting their franchises for the small screen. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. managed to pull off better season that its first, and Daredevil has been on the receiving end of ample critical acclaim after premiering its first season on Netflix earlier this year.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s third season will premiere on ABC Sept. 29. Daredevil‘s second season will be released on Netflix in 2016.
