Marty Ingels, the comic actor and husband of actress Shirley Jones, died Wednesday. He was 79.
Ingels passed away at the Tarzana Medical Center in the Los Angeles area after suffering a massive stroke, according to The Wrap.
“He often drove me crazy, but there’s not a day I won’t miss him and love him to my core,” Jones, best known for starring on The Partridge Family, said of her late husband in a statement.
Ingels worked consistently throughout his career on both TV and in film.
On television, Ingels made appearances on Hennesey, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Addams Family, Bewitched, The Phyllis Diller Show, The Rookies, The Love Boat, Murder She Wrote, Baywatch, Walker Texas Ranger, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and New Girl.
Among Ingels’ film projects were Armored Command, Wild and Wonderful, For Singles Only, If It’s Tuesday This Must Be Belgium, How to Seduce a Woman and Promoted. The last film he made, Bruce the Challenge, is currently in postproduction.
Ingels also did voice work for commercials, video games and cartoons, including the 1982 animated Pac-Man series.
Ingels had been married to Jones since 1977. Together, the two penned Shirley & Marty: An Unlikely Love Story, which talked about their marriage.
