On Monday, celebrities including Olivia Wilde and Selma star Common, celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Twitter.
Common, who recently won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song with John Legend for their Selma anthem, “Glory,” and other Selma cast members attended a march in Selma on Sunday to honor MLK’s legacy. Common and Legend were joined by co-stars David Oyelowo and Oprah Winfrey as well as Selma director Ava DuVernay, as they marched arm in arm to Selma’s Edmund Pettus Bridge, the historic site where protestors were attacked and beaten in 1965. Marchers in Selma carried signs that read “March On” and “VOTE,” and gathered to hear Oyelowo and Winfrey speak.
Other celebrities remembered Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, telling fans over Twitter how they would be celebrating. Nick Cannon tweeted that he would be spending the day supporting Ferguson, while Olivia Wilde encouraged her followers to take the time to listen to Luther’s famous “I Have A Dream” speech.
