‘Married At First Sight’ Couple Davina Kullar And Sean Varricchio Speak Out About Divorce

Married at First Sight couple Davina Kullar and Sean Varricchio were the only couple that decided to get a divorce after six weeks of marriage in the season 2 finale of A&E’s reality series.

Married at First Sight Season 2 Finale: Davina And Sean Divorce

Married at First Sight aired its season finale on Tuesday, June 9, appropriately titled “The Big Decision.” The season followed three couples – Kullar and Varrichio, Jessica Castro and Ryan De Nino, and Jaclyn Methuen and Ryan Ranellone – as the strangers met each other, got married and struggled to build a relationship from scratch.

In the season finale, after six weeks of marriage, each couple was faced with a decision: stay married or get a divorce. Kullar and Varrichio were the only ones who decided not to try to make their marriage work beyond the “experiment” of the show. The decision wasn’t all that surprising, given Kullar and Varricchio’s bickering throughout the season. Varricchio didn’t want to move to New York City with Kullar, and resented giving it a try, but Kullar wasn’t sure she wanted to move to New Jersey for him. They also struggled to form an emotional and physical relationship.

Now that the finale has aired, Kullar and Varricchio have both come forward to talk about their reasoning behind the decision and reflect on their relationship and the show.

“I don’t think the real Sean, the genuine Sean never really showed up. I can’t say that I really know who I was married to. I didn’t have a connection with him at all,” Kullar told the New York Post.

Varricchio agreed on the lack of connection, saying, “Things were tense. I was constantly walking on eggshells, where it definitely became difficult to see how we could grow a relationship.”

That said, Varricchio said he doesn’t blame the matchmakers working for Married at First Sight, admitting, “I think the experts, they gave it their all to match me with someone who was compatible with me, but love is not an exact science, neither is dating, matchmaking or anything of that nature. Until you really meet somebody and you try to build chemistry you really don’t know.”

Though the two agreed in their final meeting with the Married at First Sight ‘experts’ that they should get a divorce, the revelation of their decision was far from civil. During their final meeting, Varricchio called Kullar self-centered, catching Kullar off guard. “[It] seemed like he was wanting to throw a bombshell out there and ruffle my feathers. It was definitely hurtful,” she said.

Kullar added that after what was said on decision day, their friendship was ruined. “At decision day, we had a friendship going into that and he really blindsided me with some really negative comments. It makes it difficult to have a friendship because a friendship is based on trust, based on components of character, and those were unfortunately laid to the side,” she explained.

Despite their failed marriage, both Kullar and Varricchio said they wanted to get married again in the future. “I think I’ll give it the regular vetting process this time around, though,” Kullar said.

Kullar and Varricchio also shared photos on Instagram confirming they had no regrets about the experience.

Varricchio and Kullar will reunite for the first time in six months on next week’s Married At First Sight reunion episode. The reunion special will air Tuesday, June 16, at 9 p.m.
