Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden was arrested on Saturday on domestic violence charges in Los Angeles.
Madden posted bail at $50,000 and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on September 29. He was charged with breaking the California penal code 273.5 (a) which makes it illegal to inflict harm on a spouse or cohabitant. Madden currently resides in Los Angeles and is not married. The identity of the alleged victim is unknown.
A spokesperson for the band released a six page statement. Part of which read, “We are deeply devastated by this disappointing news. As we learn more, we are looking at this very seriously. For now we are allowing all of the individuals involved the space to work things through.”
Madden had also been arrested in 2016 for possession of cocaine.
The Maroon 5 Instagram has been active in speaking out on the Black Lives Matter movement. On June 7 they posted an image that said, “Seeking JUSTICE and EQUALITY is not a political thing. It is not a temporary thing. It is, and perpetually should be, a HUMAN thing. If it is not a core value we share, we cease to be human.”
Madden has been a member of the band since it formed in 1994. The other members include, Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, James Valentine, Matt Flynn, PJ Morton and Sam Farra.
Brown will be accompanied by guest artists Scotty McCreery, Mitchell Tenpenny, Ashley Cooke and Dasha.
