Mark Wahlberg Named Highest Paid Actor In 2017 By Forbes

Mark Wahlberg is the highest paid actor in Hollywood, according to the Forbes list in 2017.

FORBES HIGHEST PAID ACTOR LIST

The former rapper-turned-actor earned a whopping $68 million pretax. This was his highest pay year to date, thanks to blockbusters such as Transformers: The Last Knight and the forthcoming Daddy’s Home 2. Despite receiving just a 15% on rottentomatoes.com, the film still paid Wahlberg his fixed compensation.

Last year, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came out on top, but was ranked in second place in 2017, earning $65 million. His roles in BaywatchJumanji, and HBO’s Ballers helped him gain $50 million more than his 2016 total. “I can kick ass better than anyone else on the planet,” he once told the magazine. “And I have a decent smile.”

Rounding out the top five of the list are Fast and the Furious‘ Vin Diesel (No. 3, $54.5 million), Adam Sandler (No. 4, $50.5 million), and Jackie Chan (No. 5, $49 million), the latter of whom made a lucrative deal with Netflix so that he can produce his own content for the platform.

Between June 1, 2016 and June 1, 2017, the top 20 highest paid actors earned a combined $720 million before taxes. A quarter of the list’s finalists come from outside the US, including three stars from Bollywood, as well as the Australian-born Chris Hemsworth, coming in at number 11 with $31.5 million.
