Mark Sanchez addressed some of the drama surrounding Tim Tebow and the New York Jets in an interview with the Petros and Money show on FOXSports Radio.
"I just don't know if it was the best situation for either of us really, but you kind of play with the cards you're dealt and do the very best you can," Sanchez said of the Tebow trade.
Sanchez added that the intense media attention certainly didn’t help matters, but he could understand why it constantly surrounded the team.
"But he's a popular guy, and people gravitate toward the guy. He's a special person and a heck of a competitor, so people want to know what's going on. But that's really my piece on that, that's all I got on that."
Jeff Garcia and Steve Clarkson, the mentors for Sanchez and Tebow, respectively, have each spoken out to the media recently, criticizing the other quarterbacks. Sanchez, however, was complimentary of Tebow and stated that with regard to their working relationship "it's cool" and that Tebow is "a nice guy, and he works hard."
The Jets barely used Tebow last season and were mired in a quarterback controversy that served as a media target from day one. Sanchez committed 26 turnovers during the season and ultimately lost his starting job to third-string quarterback Greg McElroy. Tebow is still on the Jets roster, however he will likely be released around the NFL draft, which will be held April 25 — 27.
