Iron Man 3 includes a cameo by Mark Ruffalo in a scene that follows the closing credits. Ruffalo, who played The Hulk/Dr. Bruce Banner in The Avengers, explained how the scene came to be in an interview with HuffPost Entertainment.

"There was some talk about [an appearance], but when we presented at the Academy Awards, Robert [Downey Jr.] pulled me aside and pitched it to me," Ruffalo told HuffPost Entertainment. "They asked if I wanted to do it, I said, 'That sounds great. I love the idea. I'd love to do it!'"

After the credits in Iron Man 3, Downey is shown in a therapy session with Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, who has fallen asleep. It's tied into the movie when it's revealed that Tony Stark's voiceovers were actually him unloading on the lethargic Banner.

"It was a blast," Ruffalo said about working with Downey on the scene. "I was so excited to be in an Iron Man movie."

Iron Man 3 is currently in wide release. The Avengers 2, which Ruffalo told Moviefone he would be returning for, is set to be released in 2015.
