Mark Hamill, who starred alongside Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher in Star Wars: A New Hope, denies he flubbed a line in the film’s infamous blooper.
After Luke Skywalker returns home from destroying the death star, he’s welcomed by Han Solo (Ford) and his sister Princess Leia (Fisher). Instead of saying “Leia” upon greeting his onscreen sister, film buffs have insisted that Hamill mistakenly called out “Carrie!”
A Twitter fan recently asked Hamill whether or not it was true that he’d messed up his line. The actor responded with an adamant denial, and offered an explanation for the misunderstanding. “TOTAL BS! Actually said ‘There she…’ as in ‘There she is,'” Hamilton claims. “Dialogue in that scene was dubbed. In-jokes disallowed!”
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Star Wars: The Force Awakens – which returns Hamill, Fisher and Ford in their original roles – will focus on the Skywalker family saga. The two forthcoming saga films will continue the family’s story, and will likely introduce new members.
“The Saga films focus on the Skywalker family saga,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told Costco Connection. “The stories follow a linear narrative that connects to the previous six films. The Force Awakens follows Return of the Jedi and continues that generational story.”
Though no one has officially been announced as a member of the Skywalker clan, it has been rumored that Daisy Ridley‘s character in The Force Awakens, Rey, is Leia and Han Solo’s daughter and Luke’s niece.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams, hits theaters Dec. 18.
