Star Wars veteran Mark Hamill, 66, worried fans when he was spotted at JFK Airport in New York in a wheelchair.
Less than two weeks prior, the actor famous for playing Luke Skywalker surprised fans at Disneyland and appeared in great shape. On Tuesday, he rode in a wheelchair and was slumped to one side as he was pushed through the airport.
On Twitter, Hamill assured fans that he was fine, and that the wheelchair was just a ploy to deter paparazzi and autograph hunters from bothering him. “HA! Arriving 5AM I tried the old ‘wheelchair trick’ JUST 2 avoid autograph $alesmen/Dealer$ who constantly badger me (& my family) 2 increase value of their items-All the better 2 gouge TRUE FANS later on Ebay #TheyCanGoForceThemselves #NoMoreAirportSignings,” the actor wrote.
Later on Tuesday, Hamill made an appearance on The Ellen Show with Ellen DeGeneres, where he played a trivia game with a 10-year-old Star Wars superfan – and lost. Some fans noted, however, that the actor’s hands were trembling throughout the interview, the same issue some noticed at a Star Wars celebration last year in Orlando.
