Marjorie Taylor Greene Reports Jimmy Kimmel To Capitol Police For Monologue Joke

Marjorie Taylor Greene is feuding with comedian Jimmy Kimmel online after he targeted her in his opening monologue for the Wednesday episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Greene referred to Kimmel’s joke as “a threat of violence” on Twitter and said she had reported it to the Capitol police.

“This woman – Klan mom – is especially upset with the three Republican Senators who said they would vote ‘Yes’ on Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson who is nominated for the Supreme Court,” Kimmel began his joke. “She tweeted ‘Murkowski, Collins and Romney are pro-pedophile’ … Wow, where is Will Smith when you really need him, huh?”

This was obviously in reference to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock during this year’s Oscars, and Greene didn’t take the joke lightly apparently, despite her being confident calling three of her fellow Republicans “pro-pedophile.” Kimmel responded to Greene directly with a quick, snappy response of “Officer? I would like to report a joke.”

It hasn’t been confirmed whether Capitol Police are acting on this report, as they cannot comment on active investigations, but it would be surprising if Kimmel saw any legal consequences from this joke.

Judge Jackson’s record of judgments on cases related to child pornography was brought up frequently by Republicans during her Senate confirmation hearing. Claims that she had been particularly lenient on offenders are considered willful misreadings of her prior statements and judgments by fact-checkers.

Despite Green and other Senator’s hemming and hawing, Jackson was confirmed to be the U.S.’s 116th Supreme Court Justice with 53 yeas and 47 nays. She is also the first black woman and the first former public defender to hold the highest judgeship in America.
