Mariah Carey is reportedly going to be a guest star on Empire this season.  Empire creator Lee Daniels broke the news to a crowd at Carey’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star dedication on Wednesday.

Mariah Carey To Guest Star on ‘Empire’

Daniels announced Carey’s guest star role on the new Fox series just before Carey was presented with her star during the Hollywood Walk of Fame dedication. “Watch her on Empire, you guys. She’s coming on Empire,” the creator shouted out to fans.

As previously reported, Ludacris and Kelly Rowland have also joined this season of the hip-hop drama, which ended up as broadcast TV’s top drama over its first season. Marisa Tomei will be a recurring star. Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Chris Rock will also join Carey as guest stars on Season 2.

Carey ended her Las Vegas residency about a week ago, where she had been performing at Caesar’s Palace.

The Grammy-award-winning singer was the 2,556th recipient of a star on or around famed Hollywood Boulevard.

Daniels had previously directed Carey in his films Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire and Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

The director didn’t give out any additional details on what role Carey would play, or how she might interact with the show’s sassy heroine, Cookie Lyon.

Fox did not comment on the announcement, though a person with knowledge of the casting told TheWrap that there is no deal currently in place, and it is unclear if negotiations have even begun.

Fox is scheduled to present its plans for Empire and other upcoming shows at the television critics’ panel on Thursday.
