Tennis star Maria Sharapova, who was suspended by the International Tennis Federation earlier this year, is heading to Harvard Business School this summer.
Sharapova took to Twitter and Facebook Monday to announce the big news, writing, “Not sure how this happened but Hey Harvard! Can’t wait to start the program! ??.”
According to Sharapova’s agent Max Eisenbud, the athlete is completing a program that will include two classes at the Ivy League university. No further details about Sharapova’s time at the school have been revealed.
Earlier this month, Sharapova was suspended for two years by the International Tennis Federation for testing positive for banned substance meldonium. While it was determined that she had not
intentionally used the banned substance for performance-enhancing purposes, she was still held responsible for taking a banned substance – knowingly or not.
Sharapova is appealing her suspension.
