Country star Maren Morris reflected proudly on her 2019 shoot for Playboy, which some fans criticized her for, in Instagram posts ahead of the release of her new album Humble Quest.

“I did playboy in 2019 and got a lot of hate at the time, but I’m the proudest that I showed country, female sexuality in its realest form here,” Morris wrote in a caption alongside a black-and-white topless photo. We are nuanced, we are messy and strech-marked in the most beautiful way. Don’t sleep on us.”

She also roasted some critical comments she has received via her temporary Instagram story last week. One post captured a comment that read “Please dress appropriate,” and Morris wrote back “RESPECT 4 MOM BOOBZ.” In a followup story, the singer also called out “prudes” by saying “women in country music own their sexuality too.”

Humble Quest will be released this week on March 25. This will be her third album release since the Grammy-nominated Girl in 2019. In her post about Playboy, she referred to this new music as the “next album era,” so it will be great to hear a new and sound from the singer.

Morris released the single Circles Around This Town in promotion for the album, which featured songwriting contributions from her husband Ryan Hurd, who is also a country singer/songwriter.
