Country singer Maren Morris delivered a touching apology to the stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race while guest hosting Friday’s episode.
Morris, 32, held back tears as she apologized to the drag queens for the way country music has historically treated the LGBTQ community.
“Coming from country music and its relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry,” she said in a clip posted to Instagram. “And I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music. So I just thank you guys so much for inspiring me.”

She got emotional at the end of her speech, getting up to leave before Mistress Isabelle Brooks said, “Just you being here shows you’re an ally and speaks volumes.”
“I also just want to say because you’re a country gal, your validation of my Dolly meant everything to me,” Loosey LaDuca, who impersonates Dolly Parton, told Morris. “That made me feel amazing.”
In a confessional, Spice said he loved hearing Morris share that sentiment.
“A lot of times with country artists, they can’t really express their more progressive ideals,” he said. “Just her being here shows she’s down and can roll with the LGBT.”
Morris has been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ community for many years. In 2022 she called out Jason Aldean’s wife Brittany for transphobic comments, calling the influencer a “scumbag human.”
She has received backlash from conservatives for misrepresenting country music because of her progressive ideals. In response to the criticism, she has donated proceeds from her merch to organizations that support the transgender population.
