President Barack Obama‘s Kenyan half-brother Malik Obama will be present at the third presidential debate tonight to root for Donald Trump.
This may seem odd, but Malik has never been much of an Obama fan. They served as each other’s best man at their respective weddings, but have never been close.
“I like Donald Trump because he speaks from the heart,” Malik told The New York Post. “Make America Great Again is a great slogan. I would like to meet him.”
Trump’s campaign announced Tuesday that Malik would be attending the debate on Trump’s behalf.
Malik has said one of his main reasons for opposing Hillary Clinton is the part she played in eliminating former Libyan leader Moammar Qaddafi. “I still feel that getting rid of Gaddafi didn’t make things any better in Libya,” Malik said, claiming that the dictator had been a close friend of his.
Malik has also voiced his support for the Republican party as a whole, based on the social views many of the party possess. “I feel like a Republican now because they don’t stand for same-sex marriage, and that appeals to me,” he said. Keep in mind that Malik, a Muslim Kenyan and self-proclaimed polygamist with three wives, married his latest wife, a 19-year-old, at 52 years old.
