Malia Obama was captured briefly on film smoking what appears to be a marijuana cigarette.

Malia, 18, was enjoying herself at the Lollapalooza concert festival in Chicago two weeks ago when a friend included her in a short video of the teens dancing. Malia can be seen in the background smoking what looks like a joint. Just a few days ago, footage came out at the same concert with Malia twerking.

While the teenager faced some criticism for her actions, many people flocked to her defense, saying that just because she is the president’s daughter, doesn’t negate the fact that she is an 18-year-old girl. Not to mention that she is going to Harvard next fall.

While President Obama has openly spoken about his past marijuana use, he’s recently told the public that he encourages his daughters against its use, saying, “I’ve told my daughters I think it’s a bad idea, a waste of time, not very healthy.”

There were some criticisms on social media, mostly targeting the girl as a means of making a political statement against her father.

But for the most part, the comments were defending Malia.

Malia Obama was caught smoking weed. If she’s not careful she might end up winning 21 Olympic gold medals or becoming president of the USA.
