MH370 News: Malaysia’s Civil Aviation Authority Head Steps Down After Failure To Find Malaysia Airlines 370

Malaysia Airlines’ 370 flight disappeared on March 8, 2014. Many people and groups have looked for the missing airplane in that time, but officials have finally suspended their search. Consequently, the chairman of Malaysia’s Civil Aviation Authority, who has served for over 40 years, has confirmed he will step down from his post.

Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, the head of the organization, announced his resignation in a statement on Monday. He will leave his position in 14 days, taking responsibility for the absentee aircraft.

In his statement, Rahman writes, “Over the past four years, I have tried my level best to assist in the search for MH370 and I am ever resolute in finding answers we all seek towards this unfortunate tragedy as we owe it to the families and loved ones. I am saddened to have to leave under these circumstances.”

Notably, Rahman’s resignation comes one day after a report suggesting Flight 370 was intentionally diverted after communications with the plane ceased, possibly involving the “intervention of a third party.”
