Malala Yousafzai Leaves Pakistan After An Emotional Trip And Returns To Britain

Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, 20, took a surprise four-day visit to Pakistan and left filled with emotion.

The activist left for Britain after her emotional visit. A government official confirmed her departure to AFP:  “Malala Yousafzai along with her family left Islamabad.” She gave a televised speech telling how her “dream” to come home came true.

“Always it has been my dream that I should go to Pakistan … in peace and without any fear,” she said. She was able to visit her native Swat Valley where she was targeted by Islamic extremists. “I left Swat with my eyes closed and now I am back with my eyes open,” referring to the coma she fell into after being shot in 2012. “My dream has come true. Peace has returned to Swat because of the invaluable sacrifices rendered by my brothers and sisters,” she said at a school outside Mingora.

Since Malala left Pakistan over five years ago after being shot in the head by a member of the Taliban for attending school, she has become a symbol for human rights. She won the Nobel Piece Price when she was 17, making her the youngest prize winner since Sir William Brag in 1915.
