Swatting incidents seem to be on the rise this season.

A week after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) and her family found themselves in swatting incidents, Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows (D) is having her own experience.

She posted a statement on Facebook to inform others that she and her husband, Brandon, are safe.

“Many of you have asked if Brandon and I are safe,” Bellows wrote. “We are away for the holiday weekend. We were not home yesterday when threats escalated, and our home address was posted online. It was a good thing because our home was swatted last night.”

Swatting is the term used when authorities are prank-called to a certain address in an effort to have a team of police officers gather there.

On Friday night, Maine State Police said a call was made by a man who claimed that he had broken into an Augusta home. Police then found the home to be Bellows’.

This comes after Bellows made the decision to bar Trump from the ballot.

“I do not reach this conclusion lightly,” Bellows said regarding her decision. “I am mindful that no Secretary of State has ever deprived a presidential candidate of ballot access based on Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment. I am also mindful, however, that no presidential candidate has ever before engaged in insurrection.”

In addition to Greene and Bellows, other political members were also recently targeted by swatting incidents: Sen. Rick Scott (R-Florida) and Rep. Brandon Williams (R-New York).
