Madonna was intubated in the ICU after she was found unresponsive and had to be rushed to the hospital on Saturday.
She currently is recovering and is no longer in the ICU as they were able to remove her tube.
Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager, shared the singer’s health update on his Instagram.
In the post, he wrote, “On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several-day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected. At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
It was later revealed that she had been “strenuously rehearsing” for her upcoming tour for weeks before she collapsed. This included 12-hour days where she was rehearsing her performance every day.
Her daughter, Lourdes Leon, was with her throughout the entire incident.
Madonna is supposed to start her Celebration tour on July 15 in Vancouver at Rogers Arena. This tour is commemorate her music career’s 40th anniversary. The show has been postponed, but it has not yet been announced when it will be rescheduled for.
The tour was set to take on international stages in Europe on October 14 and later return to the U.S. from December 13 to January 30, 2024.
She had been frequently posting about the tour on her Instagram page. She last posted on June 20 a series of photos at rehearsals. The photos were captioned, “The Calm Before The Storm……….” which was just four days before her hospitalization.
The singer looked unrecognizable in some of her recent social media posts.
Madonna hasn’t been on tour for three years, her last one being her Madame X from September 2019 to March 2020.
Her most famous concert by far has been the Sticky & Sweet Tour as it is the highest-grossing trek ever by a female artist.
