Madonna pushed boundaries yet again when she made out with Drake during a surprise appearance at Coachella on Sunday.
Madonna, 56, surprised fans at the Coachella Music Festival Sunday when she appeared on stage during Drake’s set. Drake, 28, introduced Madonna with a performance of his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late track, “Madonna,” and the pop super star herself sauntered in wearing thigh-high boots, fishnets and a tank that read “Big as Madonna” – a line from Drake’s song.
Madonna performed “Human Nature,” and a few other tracks from her repertoire, before ushering Drake back on stage.
At the end of her performance, Madonna approached the rapper, who was seated in a chair facing the audience. She tilted his head back and then went in for the kiss. Drake appeared into it at first, caressing her head, but then it looked a bit like he ran out of breath. When she finally let him come up for air, he awkwardly threw himself forward in his seat and whipped his mouth with his hand. “I’m Madonna, bitch,” Madonna said as she walked off stage, leaving a stunned Drake in her wake.
“What the f—k just happened?” Drake said, laughing, before continuing with his set.
Drake later Instagramed a picture of the kiss with the caption, “Moments to write home about,” and Madonna, too, shared a photo on her social media accounts with the message, “No Caption necessary.”
While the two artists appear more than okay with the awkward lip lock, many viewers and critics were put off by Drake’s immediate reaction to the kiss.
Some were upset by Madonna’s actions:
Others were less than impressed:
And some attempted to use the awkward kiss as an opportunity to jumpstart a conversation about consent:
Madonna responded to the haters early Monday morning with a simple message: “If you don’t like me and still watch everything I do… Bitch, You’re a fan.”
