Madonna Kicks Off U.S. Leg Of Her ‘Celebration Tour’: ‘It’s A Miracle I’m Alive’

On Wednesday night, a week after the conclusion of a 27-show outing through Europe, Madonna resumed her tour with a performance at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the first of three sold-out shows.

At her Celebration Tour, Madonna reflected on her remarkable 40-year career in pop music and a health scare she experienced earlier in the year.

She told the crowd, “It’s so great to be back in New York. You have no idea. The enthusiasm, the joy, it’s just coming out of my pores. It’s amazing.”

The Celebration Tour faced setbacks when Madonna, 65, was hospitalized earlier in the year due to a severe bacterial infection, which led to the postponement of her North American dates.

Her joy at being back on stage was palpable.

At one of the most poignant moments, Madonna, guitar in hand, said, “It’s a miracle that I’m alive…I feel like I’m one of the lucky ones. … Let’s take a moment to be grateful.” She presumed to deliver a heartfelt rendition of Gloria Gaynor‘s “I Will Survive” before she transitioned into “La Isla Bonita.”

Madonna has always used her performances to challenge critics and embrace her sexuality. While some may debate the provocative nature of certain acts.

Madonna’s seductive presence and artistic presentations continue to push boundaries. Despite the passage of time, her performance of “Like a Prayer” still holds its power and evokes memories of a different era.

Madonna’s career has spanned various musical styles and set numerous trends in fashion, songwriting, and attitude. The Celebration Tour serves as a tribute to her illustrious career; as she reminded the audience, it is essential to remember one’s roots and the struggles that have shaped them.

While some fans knew to expect the singer to be tardy, many took to social media to air their frustrations when Madonna was two hours late. Madonna didn’t directly address her late arrival, but at one moment inquired with the audience about the audibility of her performance due to the sound difficulties she had encountered earlier.
