Madonna Goes For Gold In Spectacular Half-Time Show

With all the buzz leading up to Madonna's half-time performance Sunday night, expectations were high, and while there were some dissenters who thought Madonna's heels were too high and her choreography too choppy, many viewers seemed to be wowed by the singer's multi-song collaboration with the likes of Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, LMFAO and M.I.A.

After a brief NBC commercial featuring Jay Leno riding an elevator with a professionally dressed Madonna before his ring tone is awkwardly revealed to be her '80s hit, "Like a Virgin," Madonna came out with an army of 300-esque Roman soldiers, pulling the apparent Queen of Half Time to the sound of "Vogue."

From there, the 13-minute show would go on to cover expertly choreographed renditions of "Music," an LMFAO mash-up of "Party Rock Anthem," Madonna's new hit "Give Me All Your Luvin'" with Minaj and M.I.A., and a gospel choir performance of "Like a Prayer" featuring a robed Cee Lo.

Stars sent out signals of support and good reviews. Former American Idol and X Factor judge Paula Abdul gave it her stamp of approval: "I was dancing &singing along w/ @CeeLoGreen #Madonna Like A Prayer was AWESOME! Well played #Superbowl WELL PLAYED-amazing #HalfTime show!"

"Visually, it was a stunning show," Whoopi Goldberg said on ABC's The View Monday morning.
