It was only time before Madonna responded to Elton John's comments that "she looks like a f—ing fairground stripper" earlier this summer, after she exposed her breast during the MDNA tour. But Madonna had us holding our breath when she seemed to call out a truce at her recent concert in France. "I'd like to dedicate this next song to a Mr. Elton John," said Madonna, according to EW. "I know he’s a big fan of it. And I know he’s a big fan of mine. And you know? I forgive him. Gotta start somewhere," Madonna said, seeming ready to make amends after an almost decade-long feud.

But Madonna soon showed her true colors as she proceeded to perform "Masterpiece," the track from her directorial effort W.E. that beat out John's own "Hello Hello" for Best Song at this year's Golden Globes. John, who had told an interviewer prior to the show that Madonna didn't stand a chance of winning, has often spoken out against the pop icon before — most recently claiming on Australian television that she's been "horrible" to rival Lady Gaga.

"Madonna, best f—ing live act? F— off," John famously said after Madonna won Best Live Act at the 2004 GQ Awards. "Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger c–t," John told Sunday Night recently. "If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly."
