Madonna, in response to her album Rebel Heart leaking online, has officially released six songs off of it, dubbing it an early Christmas present.
Madonna’s 13th studio album Rebel Heart leaked online last week, leading her longtime manager Guy Oseary to ask the public to help find those responsible. Outraged at the theft, Madonna took to Instagram in a heated post that she’s since deleted.
“This is artistic rape!!! These are early leaked demo’s half of which wont even make it on my album the other half have changed and evolved,” the Queen of Pop wrote. “This is a form of terrorism. Wtf!!!!! Why do people want to destroy artistic process??? Why Steal? Why not give me the opportunity to finish and give you my very best?”
On Saturday morning, Madonna decided that the best way to respond to the leak was to put out finished cuts of a half dozen of the songs recorded for Rebel Heart.
The songs released on iTunes include upbeat anthem “Living for Love,” “Devil Pray,” “Ghosttown” and “Illuminati.”
Madonna had been planning to release “Living for Love” as her lead track off Rebel Heart in February, according to Rolling Stone. The release of the full album was slated for sometime in spring 2014.
