Madonna And Sean Penn Still Fueling Rumors Of Rekindled Romance
Madonna and Sean Penn, who were married briefly during the 80s, are leading many to believe that they’re giving their relationship another shot.
Madonna Dating Sean Penn?
Over the weekend, Madonna showed up at Penn’s annual pre-Golden Globes gala, Help Haiti Home, which raises money for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization. On the red carpet, Penn posed with Madonna and her two youngest children, Mercy and David.
Inside the event, Madonna took her seat beside Penn in the center of the ballroom. At one point, she delivered a surprise performance of “La Vie en Rose,” Édith Piaf’s signature song. “I want to say, Sean, I love you, from the moment that I laid eyes on you,” Madonna said from the stage. “I just wish you’d stop smoking cigarettes.”
The formerly married pair had “their arms around each others’ shoulders,” during the gala, according to E! News.
“Everyone knows that Sean Penn is back with Madonna,” a Hollywood insider, who was at the event, told Page Six, adding, “That’s [a] reason Rocco is staying in London with Guy — he doesn’t like Sean.”
Rocco is Madonna’s 15-year-old son with Guy Ritchie, whom she was married to from 2000-2009. The exes are currently embroiled in a custody battle, as Rocco has recently expressed his desire to live with Ritchie in London, against Madonna’s wishes.
The rumors have been swirling about Madonna and Penn rekindling their romance since last October, when Penn showed up at Madonna’s Vancouver stop on her Rebel Heart tour after attending her New York City show the previous month. At the time, Dylan Penn, the actor-director’s daughter with ex-wife Robin Wright, threw cold water on the rumors.
“I think he just really admires her work,” Dylan Penn told Entertainment Tonight. “They’re just really good friends and [I think] it’s sweet that they can have this relationship.”
Madonna and Penn were wed in 1985 and split two years later in 1987.
