Madonna and Guy Ritchie continue their battle over the custody of their eldest son Rocco, as a New York judge urges them to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Deborah Kaplan wants Madonna and Ritchie to end their custody dispute for Rocco’s sake. However, if they cannot come to an agreement, she has promised that the court will step in to make a ruling.
“No one is disrupting his household other than the inability of the parents to reach a resolution,” Kaplan said in court Wednesday, according to The Guardian. “If they cannot resolve this matter then eventually the court will.”
Rocco had been tagging along on Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour, when he left to visit his father in London last summer. When the 15-year-old failed to reunite with his mother in New York, she went to court to compel him to return. Though the judge ruled that he should return, he has not, preferring to live with his father in London, where he is attending school.
“It’s been a very difficult time for him,” said Rocco’s personal attorney. “We hope to put an end to this as soon as possible without exposing him to more litigation, press innuendo, any of that kind of thing.”
Madonna and Ritchie, who were married from 2000-2008, are scheduled to return to court June 1.
