After dating less than two years, Machine Gun Kelly proposed to Megan Fox on January 11, and the couple confirmed their engagement the following day.

Kelly confirmed to Vogue that he designed the “thoroughbred Colombian emerald” and diamond engagement ring with Stephen Webster for Fox. The emerald, taken directly from a mine, was carved to shape like a teardrop.

Kelly also noted that the engagement ring is painful to take off.

“The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings,” Kelly stated. “When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart. And you see this right here? The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts!”

The emerald (Fox’s birthstone) and the diamond (Kelly’s birthstone) placed on the two rings of thorns represent their “two halves of the same soul” drawn together to form an indistinct heart that symbolizes their love.
